Synopsis: Ten year old Gabriel lives in a small country with big conflicts. His childhood in Burundi is, despite the problems of the world, carefree and adventurous. When conflicts in neighboring country Rwanda are escalated, Gabriel's life is changed forever. "Petit pays" takes place during the bloody years in the beginning of the 90s where the civil war in Rwanda led to one of the worst genocides in modern history. The film is based on the debut novel with the same name by Gaël Faye.
